Compete with friends and family at Topgolf Orlando
You might have heard of Topgolf before and played at some of the locations in the UK. Now you can have a game whilst on your Orlando holiday, as a new venue opened on International Drive last October.
For those of you that don’t know, Topgolf is a next generation driving range. It’s a concept that uses the idea of a standard driving range and transforms it into a high-end party atmosphere! With pioneering technology, this sports and entertainment venue has made the game of golf fun for everyone! You don’t need to own a set of golf clubs to play here and it’s also fun and easy to learn if you have never played golf before.
Topgolf in Orlando features 102 golfing bays over 3 floors. From the bay you hit micro-chipped golf balls at giant targets on the outfield. These specially-designed balls will work out your points and count up your score as you play.
Topgolf is more than just a driving range. It features:
- 102 climate-controlled hitting bays
- Toptracer shot tracker - the incredible golf ball tracking system
- A full-service restaurant & bars
- Rooftop terrace with fire pit
- Over 200 HDTVs
- Free Wi-Fi
“Orlando Topgolf is a fantastic venue near International Drive. It’s good for golfers and non-golfers alike. It has a great-laid back atmosphere and they have really found a way to engage non-golfers by providing everything you need in fun games - think golf, bowling, and darts all combined together!”
Booking Topgolf
You can either check-in when you arrive at Topgolf or reserve a bay online. If there’s more than six of you it’s best to make a reservation on the Topgolf website.
If there’s a couple in your group that aren’t bothered about playing, they can still watch. Each bay can accommodate eight guests, but only six can play at a time.
Bays are rented by the hour and between one and six people can play the game in a bay. You can hit unlimited golf balls during your hour. Keep in mind that if there’s six people playing, it typically takes 60-90 minutes to play a full game – it’s best to start with one or two hours and then you can easily add time right there in your bay if you’d like to extend.
Tip: The earlier you go the cheaper the game is!
Choosing your games
Once you’ve checked-in, head over to guest services where you will register for a playing card, which you can load with games. Both male and female right-handed clubs will be in your bay, so there’s no need to pick up clubs here unless you’re playing with juniors, or you need left handed clubs.
“I've never been much of a golf fan besides mini golf, but this place is grade A fun. I love the decor and setup. It's pretty huge with three floors and I love the Florida sunset with the Orlando Eye in view. The music is pretty fun and they light up the holes to match the music which is entertaining.”
Which game will you play?:
- TopGolf - In their signature game, players score points by hitting balls into any target. The more accurate your shot the more points you earn.
- TopBreak - Based on snooker, TopBreak's objective is to hit the red target followed by any other coloured target. Just like snooker, the higher value colours are worth more points.
- TopChip - For a shorter game, TopChip uses just the red target (five shots), yellow target (five shots) and green target (10 shots). Hit the correct target and you’ll score points, but hit the wrong one and see your points disappear!
- TopShot - Similar to TopChip, this game challenges you to hit the targets at four consecutive distances (five shots each). The starting target you choose (red, yellow or green) determines the game’s level of difficulty. Accuracy is key in this exciting game.
- TopPressure - Test your accuracy on this game by hitting all nine sections within the yellow target. Once you’ve completed the first level, see your points multiply during levels two and three. Be careful not to hit the same section twice or you'll lose points!
Once you’ve registered your playing card, you can then scan it at one of the ball dispensers to get your golf balls. Choose how many games you’d like to play, and the select number of balls per game will be dropped into your basket.
Tip: Each ball is uniquely assigned to you, so make sure you keep the golf balls separate to others in your group. A good idea is to drop your playing card into your basket so you don’t get mixed up.
Time to play!
You can now head to your allocated bay! The first person to play will scan their ball through the reader, where their name will appear, and you can choose from the selection of games. You and the other members of your group can play in any order, so you could each take turns, alternatively you could hit all of your own golf balls in one go, or a few at a time.
Food and drink
Food and drink can also be ordered within the bay. The Topgolf hosts will take your order and bring everything to you, so there's no need to interrupt your game.
Topgolf also has a restaurant serving a range of delicious dishes and a selection of bars to relax in with a few drinks. Don’t miss the amazing rooftop terrace with fire pit - it’s a great spot to admire the Orlando skyline!
“This was so much fun! I love the concept. We were fortunate to be on the third level, which had some great views. There are also several bars if you just want to sit and relax and enjoy a game on TV, or watch people hitting balls out onto the field.”
