Our top 5 Orlando communities with a lazy river

Let the lazy river set the pace for your holiday. Swim a little, walk or just float - It’s up to you how you wish to coast along the lazy river on your community. Ideal for the tranquil traveller, lie back and float gently with the current. The kids will love it too as they can drift along on an inflatable ring.

As it’s name suggests, lazy rivers are pretty slow, perfect for the less energetic members of your group! They are shallow pools that flow similarly to a river with a slow current, just enough to allow you to gently drift along. They’re a great addition to some of the communities in Orlando, as they allow for a bit of relaxation for the family and extra fun for the kids.

We currently have five communities featuring a lazy river, along with some amazing community pools and facilities:

1. Solterra Resort

One of the more popular resorts in Florida and ideally located to Orlando’s theme parks and attractions, Solterra is an excellent gated community offering plenty of facilities for the whole family.

Resort facilities here include a 6700sqft clubhouse with internet room, fitness centre and TV lounge. Outside there is a resort-style heated pool with spa, lazy river, sunloungers and cabanas for total relaxation. You’ll also find a picnic area, children’s play area with swings and slides, as well as tennis and volleyball courts within the community.

Solterra is in a great location just off of the I-4. Walt Disney World is the closest theme park at 20 minutes away and Universal is only 30 minutes away.

2. Storey Lake

Storey Lake is a stunning, newly developed and gated resort situated a mile off the US192 and just a short drive from the I-4 highway. Built between 2015 and 2017, the resort-style community is made up of townhouses and large villas with private pools. Set in an ideal location means there is something for everyone to enjoy within a short drive, including the Disney theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Old Town Kissimmee, the Premium Vineland Outlets and Gatorland.

Resort facilities include a state-of-the-art clubhouse, a resort-style swimming pool, lazy river, water slides, a splash park for smaller children, a large spa, tiki bar, sand volleyball courts, basketball, kayak rentals and an ice-cream shop.

3. Windsor at Westside

Windsor at Westside is a gated, resort-style community, which opened its gates to a combination of 362 Townhouses and Villas in January 2016. This luxurious development is the modern sister of the five-star resorts of Windsor Palms and Windsor Hills.

The 10,000sqft clubhouse features a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a games room with arcade machines and a convenience store to purchase anything from sun cream, to milk, or pool toys. Outside there is a large, resort-style swimming pool with water slides, lazy river, children’s splash pool and a hot tub to relax in the Florida weather. There is also a tiki bar to refresh yourselves with a range of drinks and an irresistible menu to enjoy poolside during relaxing days in the sun. There are multipurpose sports courts and a volleyball court for those wanting to remain active during their stay. 

Located a few minutes drive off the US27, midway between the US192 and I-4, means this resort is just a 15-20 minute drive to the Disney theme parks, and a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants can be found just five minutes away on the US192.

4. The Retreat at ChampionsGate

The Retreat is a large, resort-style sub-community, which sits within the ever-popular and growing community of ChampionsGate. Guests staying here will find an array of amenities including a movie theatre, full restaurant, swimming pools including a lazy river and water slides, a swim-up bar and sports courts. The community offers holidaymakers everything they could wish for on a holiday to Orlando and much more.

Located just two miles from the I-4 and a mile from the US27, the road links to Orlando’s famous attractions, which are within a very short driving distance. From ChampionsGate you will find your nearest supermarket is just two miles away, along with a small cluster of bars, restaurants and a petrol garage.

5. Reunion Resort

The Reunion Resort is located just off the Old Lake Wilson Road, three miles south of the I-4 highway, just ten minutes from Disney. With an abundance of community facilities, which include eleven swimming pools, three golf courses and six restaurants there is plenty to do for the entire family.

Reunion have their very own water park where guests will be able to float down the lazy river, ride the twisting water slides or relax by the pool on a luxury sunlounger.

This resort is also ideal for the golfers in your group with three beautiful, award winning golf courses, two golfing academies; one for putting and one all-round golfing academy.
