Experience the ultimate pool party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

H20 Glow Nights Typhoon Lagoon

Returning for summer 2019, after its successful debut last year, Disney’s H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon is sure to be a splashing great time for all of the family!

Typhoon Lagoon celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and is home to one of the world’s largest outdoor wave pools! This 61-acre site includes 11 water attractions, various eateries and the park’s iconic ‘shrimping ship’, Miss Tilly, which is stranded atop Mount Mayday – where many of the slides and rides in the park originate.

Experience the ultimate night-time party as you combine all the fun of the water park with your love of everything Toy Story! This special after-hours event runs for a whopping 25 nights over the summer – every Thursday and Saturday from 30th May to 24th August (with the exception of 20th June). This is a massive increase from the 16 event nights running on its debut last year, and the 2019 event is set to be bigger and better – more nights and extra glow! From 8 to 11pm (guests with tickets can arrive early – from 6pm) you can revel in the chance to meet with your pals from the Pixar universe, as Typhoon Lagoon lights up in a celebration of Toy Story 4 – which will be released in cinemas on Friday 21st June.

Taking inspiration from Rex’s party adventures in the Partysaurus Rex animated seven-minute short film in the Toy Story Toons series, Buzz, Woody and Jessie play host to the greatest night-time beach party, which is a combination of great music, special lighting effects and all of your favourite Typhoon Lagoon attractions all rolled together!

Throw some shapes on the Surf Pool’s sandy beaches, bop to the music played by the DJ at the dance party, or say ‘hello’ to the party’s hosts in a special character meet-and-greet experience. You can even grab a bite to eat with a selection of time-limited Toy Story-themed food and drink available at Happy Landings Ice Cream, Leaning Palms, Let’s Go Slurpin’ and Typhoon Tilly’s. We don’t know the menu yet, but we’ll announce more information as we receive it, so keep an eye on our social media channels.

For adult guests there is also a special area where you can chill out – The Wharf, where you will find plenty of entertainment and a bar serving alcoholic drinks. Don’t forget to bring two types of suitable ID with you if you want to buy alcohol (see our blog on buying alcohol in Florida). You’ll need somewhere to safely store your ID and personal possessions while you are enjoying the water rides – fortunately locker rentals are amongst the conveniences which will be open during the night-time splash-tacular, along with towel rentals, Singapore Sal’s shop, Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company and more.

Remember, it’s not all about the partying at the H2O Glow Nights! First and foremost Typhoon Lagoon is a water park, so you should take the opportunity to enjoy shorter queues for all of your favourite attractions, which include the Lazy River, Humunga Kowabunga and Crush 'n' Gusher. Waiting times for each ride are expected to be short to non-existent, so you should be able to ride as many times as you want without much time spent hanging around!

The normal park opening hours will give you seven hours to explore, versus the three hours on the special Glow Nights. As such, if you are looking for a full day of water park entertainment, this special event might not be for you. However, there are some pretty big advantages to attending on one of these evenings that you should take into consideration; mainly that the park will be a lot quieter, so you will be able to save a lot of time queuing for each and every attraction, which is always a welcome change! If you have been to Typhoon Lagoon during the daytime before, and are less worried about exploring the site, and just want to enjoy all the rides without any of the hassle of waiting, then H2O Glow is for you! Although we don’t know for sure whether things will be the same as for 2018’s debut event, last year the final half hour of the night saw the regular 15-minute giant wave rising up every couple of minutes – great fun for everyone in the Surf Pool at the time!

With the added attraction of the special lighting effects, entertainment and meet-and-greets with your Toy Story favourites, we feel that the H2O Glow Nights have certainly cemented their place in the Disney event calendar! Remember, as this is a separate ticketed event, daytime general admission tickets will not apply for the H2O Glow Nights. Tickets for each night of the party are limited; on the day of the event, they cost $69 per adult, and $64 per child, aged 3-9 (all prices quoted are without Florida’s sales tax). Tickets are not required for children under the age of 3. The tickets can be cheaper if you buy in advance.

Did you go to H2O Glow last year, or are you planning on going this year? What are your favourite Typhoon Lagoon rides that you recommend everyone try out? Do you have any tips for visitors to the water parks? We’d love to hear from you – get in touch!
