First up – which should you pick from the Kids Eat Free or VIP Shop & Dine 4Less cards? If you don’t have children in your party the choice is obvious, but if you do, read on for more information on both cards. A Kids Eat Free Card cannot be used at the same time as a Dine 4Less Card, so you’ll need to decide which offers you the best deal overall. Both of these cards are only valid in the Orlando area.

Kids Eat Free Card

The card provider has paired up with hundreds of eateries, with a full list available online. Here you can also read up on any specific terms and conditions that the restaurant might apply, and plan your visit! We recommend checking online or contacting the restaurant beforehand to avoid any disappointment.

You can use this card an unlimited number of times in a 90 day period once it has been activated. It is important to note that each card is only valid for one child (aged 11 or under) per full-paying adult, though you can purchase additional cards online if you have another adult and child in your group (currently £10).

When you have picked where you want to eat, present the Kids Eat Free Card to the server when you are ordering your meal and they will apply the relevant discount to your bill. The card is generally valid for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and usually applies to any meal from the standard child’s menu.

You can download the Kids Eat Free Card app for either Android or Apple and link your card to keep it all in one safe place. Other benefits include maps and information about the participating restaurants.

VIP Shop & Dine 4Less Card

As with the Kids Eat Free Card, you can check a list of venues where you can use your Shop & Dine 4Less Card online, and there are a range of discounts available. Select each restaurant or venue that interests you for further information on the discount that they offer, and whether there are any specific terms and conditions that you need to be aware of. As you will see from the list of venues, there are plenty of restaurants, as well as a selection of shops offering great discounts. The card can be used for up to four people dining together, just present your card when you are ordering your food to have your discount applied. This is a great option if you are travelling with children aged 12+ who would be too old to make use of the Kids Eat Free Card. As with the Kids Eat Free Card, you have 90 days of unlimited use on the Dine 4Less Card after the first purchase. It is important to note that you can’t use this card in conjunction with any other coupons or offers - including the Kids Eat Free Card.

SmartSIM USA card

Avoid the worry of roaming charges with the SmartSIM USA card! It is important to note that this card in itself doesn’t give you free phone calls or internet, but it allows you to make use of the fast North American T-Mobile 4G LTE Network. On activating your card and choosing a plan, you will have unlimited data access, and international text messaging to over 140 countries, as well as free calls to other phones in the US and unlimited incoming global calls. To make international calls we recommend that you install a free messaging app such as WhatsApp or Skype and make sure your family members back home also have this service! The data stream is fast enough for video chat, and reception across the Orlando area is excellent, so you will be able to stream videos at the parks to show your friends back home what they are missing! If you turn your phone into a mobile hotspot (also known as tethering) you can connect up to five other devices so that everyone can make use of this service. For watching HD videos in the car on the way to the parks, this is the easiest way!

You’ll need to have an unlocked GSM smartphone to make full use of this service. As mobile phones in the US operate on different bandwidths to those in the UK, you’ll also need to make sure that your phone supports 4G LTE bands 2, 4 or 12 to access the services. Check your phone’s specifications online to confirm whether your handset is compatible. GSM Arena provides a handy breakdown of the specifications of many popular phones, or you can consult your user guide or contact your phone manufacturer for more details. Generally most smartphones produced after 2017 will be compatible.

On ascertaining that the service offered by this SIM card will work with your phone, you'll need to activate it!

The first thing to do is to visit the SmartSIM USA website and select the Activate Your Sim tab; select the card that matches the one you have received and you will then be prompted to enter the 19-digit SIM number which can be found on your card.

Your SIM card can be activated up to a year before you arrive in the USA and need to use the service. It’s recommended that you set up the activation date well ahead of when you’ll need it in case of any unexpected delays! You’ll need to select the activation date and then decide which length plan you require: 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 or 30 days, and even select extra add-on days to extend your package. You can check the prices for each plan on their website – it works out as cheap as $3 per day or less to use this service; a discount of between 50%–66% off retail prices. All taxes and fees are shown up front – so what you see is all that you will pay! When you complete your registration you will receive a local number which will be issue for use in the US.

On arrival in the US, pop in your SIM card (standard, micro or nano sizes are included)! Before you can make calls or get online, there are a few settings that you will need to input into your mobile to give you access to the network. The instructions for setting up popular mobile devices are listed in the SmartSIM USA FAQs under ‘SmartSIM USA data & APN settings’. To save time when you arrive, set up the details before you leave!

Now your SIM card is in and set up, as long as your activation date has started, you’ll be good to start browsing the internet, making video calls and checking your emails!
