Orlando Weather Overview
As Orlando has a subtropical climate, the weather is consistently warm with plenty of daily sunshine, making it an excellent holiday destination all year round. There are two main periods of weather; from May to mid-October it is usually hot with spells of rainfall, whereas from mid-October to April it is often milder but still warm and relatively dry.
January
The start of the year is a good time to visit Orlando as it is slightly cooler than the rest of the year, and for some, this can make their visit more comfortable. You can expect temperatures during the day to range between 9°C (47°F) and 21°C (71°F), but the average daily temperature is around 15°C (59°F). Bring your sunglasses, as there’s usually around seven hours of sunshine a day, with only a slight chance of rain. An additional benefit of visiting this time of year, is that many of the attractions will be much quieter; so less traffic and queuing! Something that is worth noting is if you’re staying in a villa, pool heating is advisable in January.
February
February is another mild month in Orlando. The temperature during the day can range between 11°C (52°F) and 23°C (73°F), but the average daily temperature is around 16°C (61°F). Generally, there are approximately eight hours of sunshine a day with a slight chance of rain, so make sure you pack for both weathers! Similarly to the end of January, the parks and attractions are less crowded at the start of the year due to it being out of the peak season. Please note that pool heating is advisable in February if you’re staying in a villa.
March
Usually, the temperature begins to gradually rise in March and Orlando starts to feel spring-like! The temperature during the day can range between 12°C (54°F) and 25°C (78°F), but a typical daily temperature is around 19°C (66°F) if not higher, as the chances of cooler temperatures are reduced. You can expect around nine hours of sunshine in March, but the possibility of rain does increase marginally. Orlando does tend to get busier during this month; a lot of school holidays, as well as spring break occurs in March, meaning a lot of families and students will choose this time to jet off to the Sunshine State. We would advise pool heating in March if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the water.
As things heat up, so does Orlando! The lure of the sunshine and welcomed temperatures make March an exciting time of year and also marks the beginning of the baseball season.
April
The heat increases in April and the likelihood of rain decreases, with this, comes around ten hours of sunshine per day! Temperatures can range between 15°C (59°F) and 28°C (83°F), but the average daily temperature is around 22°C (71°F). With less humidity, April is a favourite month for visiting, as the climate can feel drier and more manageable. With the pleasant temperatures, we suggest having a barbecue in the Florida sunshine and spend some quality family time together in the villa! Pool heating is not always needed in April; the best thing to do is see what the weather and the pool are like when you arrive, as it can always be added during your stay. If things hot up too much, then this is the ideal time to visit the water parks to cool off.
May
As you get further into the summer months, the humidity increases, and so do the temperatures. In May, you’ll only need to pack light clothing for your holiday and plenty of sun protection. Temperatures can hit a maximum of around 31°C (88°F) and can fall to about 18°C (65°F). Your average daily temperature is a pleasant 25°C and you can expect ten hours of sunshine. The chance of rainfall increases again, but the clouds often pass quickly. Plastic ponchos are handy for the theme parks to keep yourself dry from the rain and the water rides!
June
In June you can expect heat, humidity and rain. The temperatures can reach a toasty 32°C (90°F) and will only usually fall to about 22°C (71°F), so make sure you get some shade throughout the day and keep yourself hydrated! June is referred to as the rainy season and showers are expected, with an average of 16 days being wet during the month. June also marks the beginning of the storm season, we’ve put together a handy guide on how you can prepare for hurricane weather in Orlando. It is worth noting that it is highly unlikely that your holiday will be affected by a hurricane, but it is always best to be aware and ready for it should it occur. If you’ve hired a private villa then you will not need to add pool heating for your stay in June!
July
Temperatures climb again in July, reaching 33°C (92°F) and drop to about 23°C (73°F). Humidity is particularly high at around 80%, with the highest parts of the day being between 1pm – 3pm. As it is still in the rainy season, you can expect some wet days in July, but the temperature will remain high. Any storms Orlando experiences typically pass quite quickly. With school children across the world enjoying a well-earned break, the parks and attractions can get busier during the holidays, although with this, comes a full programme of not to be missed events and shows! Stay hydrated and protect yourself against the sun at all times during July.
The idea of a water park is very appealing when you are in such warm temperatures, so why not choose a villa on Windsor Hills and make use of the Windsor Hills water park? This community has some fantastic facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
August
The weather in August is much like July, with an average of 28°C. Generally, there are about nine hours of sunshine and humidity remains at around 80%. There are roughly 19 days in the month where you will be interrupted by rain, so pack a raincoat too! In the middle of the afternoon, the temperatures will reach their highest, take a break and enjoy some time out of the sun, at either an indoor attraction or a shopping centre. But don’t just visit any old mall, why not take a trip to Florida’s largest shopping centre to get your retail therapy fix!
As the children are off from school and enjoying their time away from their studies, you’re likely to want to make sure that they have a fantastic break! Check out some of these child-friendly days out in Florida to give them a well-deserved treat!
September
It starts to cool down slightly in September, with the average temperature around 27°C. Being slightly milder and with a decrease in humidity, many visitors find this being their favourite time of year. Still being in the rainy season, it is advised to be prepared and pack for all weathers! Towards the end of the month, the parks should start to quieten down a bit as children begin returning to school.
October
Autumn arrives in October and marks a change in the weather. On average, there are about eight hours of sun and temperatures reach around 24°C. As the rainy season comes to an end, the chance of a shower drops drastically and as the children are back at school, the parks should be much quieter, meaning fewer queues! Furthermore, if you visit at the end of October, you can enjoy the epic Halloween celebrations at the theme parks. As the temperatures start to cool down, we would recommend adding pool heating to your villa booking to ensure you can enjoy the water even on milder days.
November
As the temperature and the humidity drops, Orlando becomes a popular destination for some winter sunshine. The average temperature is about 20°C but can reach 25°C. The sun will make an appearance for around eight hours a day and the chances of rain are at their lowest in the year. The lack of rain and comfortable temperatures makes Orlando an exceptional holiday spot during November. If relaxing by your own private pool is top of your agenda, then we would suggest you add on pool heating to ensure you can enjoy the temperature!
December
The average temperature over the Christmas month is around 17°C, making it a fantastic place to visit for your winter break. It does get colder in the evenings, so bring along with you some jackets and jumpers. You can expect seven hours of sun with only a slight chance of rain. Pool heating is a must in December if you’re likely to be spending considerable time in your villa.
