Bigfire at Universal Orlando

Do you enjoy family BBQs and outdoor cooking? Bigfire at Universal is the place to go for the ultimate restaurant-style campfire cookout.

Located on Universal CityWalk, this restaurant is fairly new, opening back in the Summer of 2019. It has been designed to feel like a grand lakeside lodge and takes inspiration from nostalgic things such as summer holidays, camping and garden BBQs, which many of us enjoy and love.

FUN FACT - Bigfire was created in conjunction with Universal’s theme-park designers (only the second restaurant to have this distinction, after the superb Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen).

At the very heart of Bigfire is a giant, custom-made wood-fire grill, allowing customers to watch their food being cooked right in front of them. Most of the food is prepared over open flames on this grill, using special wood to enhance the flavours of the meal. There are three different types of wood that are used including cherry, pecan and oak, all bringing some smoky goodness to the food.

On the menu you’ll find American fare like steaks, burgers and freshwater cuisine, as well as some vegetarian specials such as wood charred brussel sprouts and cauliflower steak. Bigfire offers an excellent variety of food, mixing modern cuisine with the nostalgia of open flame, campsite cooking.

“I wish I could give 10 stars! We have never enjoyed any of the food on CityWalk until this place! The server we had was named Buddy and he was sooo fun! He even danced at our request! He was knowledgeable on the menu and very helpful. My husband got a smoked old fashioned. He LOVED it! We both got steaks and they were amazing! The brussel sprouts appetiser was a show stopper! …Cannot wait to go back and so glad we finally found good food on city Walk that wasn't just overpriced average food. Worth the money!”

Be sure to make room for dessert as you can make s’mores right at your table, complete with a mini fire burner. The baked Alaska is another popular and delicious choice to end the meal. There’s also a cocktail menu, with an array of classic American cocktails, some of which have been expertly matched with the different fire woods at the restaurant.

Bigfire at Universal Orlando is certainly a welcoming and cosy restaurant. It’s decorated in a natural design with warm colours, cast-iron, wood accents, a cosy fireplace and retro camp lanterns, bringing the great American outdoors, inside. There is also some outdoor seating where you can enjoy incredible views of the Universal CityWalk lagoon, whilst sitting around the fire pit. Every outdoor seat comes with a table-side s’mores kit, and there are also oversize plaid blankets and various lawn games strewn about outside, to add to the nostalgic feelings of summers by the water.
