A Guide To The All-New Peppa Pig Theme Park
A Guide To The All-New Peppa Pig Theme Park
Peppa Pig has captured the hearts of countless pre-schoolers since she was introduced to the world on Channel 5 in 2004.
Now, the cheeky animated piglet with a hankering for “muddy puddles” has her very own theme park in Central Florida where she and her animal friends have set up home with a terrific array of attractions, rides and character appearances, all with the under-fives in mind.
Even though Peppa also has a themed area at Paulton’s Park in Hampshire, this is the first park of its kind in the world, and it has terrific child-appeal as it’s also right next door to Legoland Florida. This means you can now make a multi-day visit, and it is ideally situated for the villa communities along Highway 27 (just 35-40 minutes down the US27 from Highlands Reserve)
What’s at Peppa Pig Theme Park?
Just to start with, this is a compact park geared entirely for the pre-school crowd and their little legs. It’s a real change of pace from the likes of Disney and Universal with a far more relaxed and less frenzied atmosphere.
Here, you can let the youngsters dictate the pace, nothing is likely to be hidden or a surprise for them, and they can enjoy multiple rides on their favorites, or just go for a dig in the glorified sand pit!
There are six out-and-out rides, including the headliner of Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster (big fun for little kids), four adventure play areas, and two live shows.
In addition, there is Mr Fox’s Shop for all the necessary souvenirs and toys, and Mrs Rabbit’s Diner, a delightful café offering extremely kid-friendly meals and snacks that has a selection of thoughtful options for mum and dad, too.
It isn’t divided into ‘lands’ the way most theme parks are, and it won’t wear you out with lots of to-ing and fro-ing, as it covers just 5 acres
The Rides
You can’t miss the junior-sized fun of Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster, as it is the biggest ride in the park and is practically the first thing you see as you walk in through the main entrance. It is ideal for the younger age group, and it won’t scare the grown-ups, either!
Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Adventure is all about an epic quest that is geared towards more slow-paced entertainment for parent and child through some cartoon-like scenery on a back of a gently rocking Oinkosaurus (which is just our made-up name for the plastic green dino ride vehicle!).
Two typical small-scale amusement park rides are the highlight of the Fun Fair area. Mr Bull’s High Striker is a suitably sized bouncing drop-tower attraction for up to six people at a time, while Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride offers a bird’s eye view of the park with its aerial carousel style.
Finally, Peppa’s Pedal Bike Tour provides earth-bound excitement with a series of tricycles around a mock country park, and Grandad Dog’s Pirate Boat Ride sets sail for Pirate Island in amusing revolving circular “pirate ships.”
The Play Areas
This is probably where the theme park scores highest marks in its facilities to just allow kids to run around and have fun without anything complicated.
There’s Granny Pig’s Garden, which breaks down into five smaller sub-sections of adventure trails, playgrounds and climb-crawl-and-slide activities, while the Fun Fair offers a series of cute fairground games that are all free to play.
Watery action is the essence of the Muddy Puddles Splash Pad (swimsuits highly advised here!), with various fountains, slides and squirt-and-splash stations, and sandcastle fun is the theme of Pirate Island Sand Play with Danny Dog.
Mr Potato’s Showtime Arena is the place to go for the live shows featuring Peppa and her friends, and there are also meet-and-greet opportunities for the youngsters afterwards. And, when you need be indoors for a while, the *Cinema *is a handy retreat with its cartoon screen and beanbags.
All in all, it adds up to a fabulous day out for the right age group, with even more appeal for the youngest members of the family. And, while it doesn’t have the immersive theming of Disney and Co, it is all the better for being more hands-on and grounded.
