All About the Universal Attraction Assistance Pass
Universal Orlando theme parks are famous for their thrilling rides, captivating shows, and immersive experiences that bring beloved movies and stories to life. But for guests with disabilities or special needs, navigating these bustling parks can be challenging. Luckily, Universal Studios has created the Attraction Assistance Pass (AAP) to ensure that everyone can enjoy the magic without unnecessary stress. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide to everything you need to know about the AAP and how it can help make your visit to Universal Orlando smooth and enjoyable.
What is the Attraction Assistance Pass?
The Attraction Assistance Pass is a special service provided by Universal Orlando to help guests with disabilities experience attractions with minimal wait times. The AAP is designed for those who find it difficult to wait in standard lines due to a disability or health condition.
Who is Eligible for the AAP?
The AAP is available to guests with both visible and non-visible disabilities. This includes but is not limited to:
• Mobility impairments
• Cognitive disabilities
• Autism spectrum disorders
• Chronic pain or other medical conditions that make waiting in long lines challenging
You don’t need to bring detailed medical documentation, just a brief explanation of your need for assistance when you talk to Guest Services.
How to Get the AAP
Guests requesting an attraction queue accommodation may obtain the IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card (IAC) by registering at AccessibilityCard.org within 30 days of their visit to the park and at least 48 hours before their visit. The IAC registration consists of an online application that includes uploading necessary documentation. IBCCES does not require or ask Guests to disclose their medical or psychological diagnosis or condition.
How Does the AAP Work?
The AAP lets you schedule return times for attractions, similar to a virtual queue. Here’s how it works:
Visit an Attraction: Head to the entrance of the ride you want to experience.
Show Your Pass: Show your AAP to the Universal team member at the entrance.
Receive a Return Time: The team member will give you a return time based on the current wait time for the attraction. This lets you explore other areas of the park or take a break while you wait.
Return and Ride: When your scheduled return time comes, go back to the attraction and enter through the designated AAP entrance, often the same as the Universal Express line, minimising your wait.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Visit with the AAP
• Plan Ahead: Look up the attractions you most want to experience and plan your route through the park to save time and energy.
• Use the App: The official Universal Orlando app gives real-time updates on wait times, show schedules, and more, helping you plan your day efficiently.
• Stay Hydrated and Take Breaks: Theme park days can be long and tiring, especially for guests with disabilities. Make sure to rest, hydrate, and take advantage of quieter areas in the park.
• Communicate Needs Clearly: If you have any questions or specific requirements, don’t hesitate to ask Universal team members. They are trained to assist and ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible.
Additional Services
In addition to the AAP, Universal Orlando offers various services to enhance accessibility, including:
• Assistive Listening Devices: For guests with hearing impairments.
• Sign Language Interpretation: Available for select shows with advanced notice.
• Dietary Accommodations: Special dietary needs can be accommodated at most dining locations within the park.
By providing a tailored experience for guests with disabilities, Universal ensures that everyone can share in the excitement and joy of their world-class attractions. If you or a loved one needs assistance, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the AAP and make the most of your adventure at Universal Studios.
