Feel the thrill of Krakatau at Universal’s Volcano Bay in Orlando with the Krakatau Aqua Coaster, a must-do ride for families visiting Florida. This four-person canoe-style water coaster uses powerful magnetic propulsion to send you both uphill and downhill through the heart of the iconic volcano. Along the way, you’ll twist through dark tunnels, unexpected turns and bursts of speed before emerging into the daylight and plunging through a refreshing waterfall.
- Krakatau is an excellent water ride! We waited about 35 minutes to ride it which is pretty good by most estimates, and found it to be entirely worth the wait! Try to sit in the front if you can!
- The Krakatau Aqua Coaster is insanely addictive, and probably the most fun ride in the park.
- Such a long and fun ride - I’m not usually a fan of roller coasters but really enjoyed this new water coaster at Volcano Bay.
Tips & Facts
- This is the flagship attraction at Volcano Bay - Krakatau Aqua Coaster has a four-person canoe that launches up and shoots down hills and rockets through the volcano itself in a series of dark twists and turns.
- This attraction uses linear induction motors (LIM) to propel the canoes up hills quickly. That's the same technology that many roller coasters use for their launches including Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Florida.
- This ride looks more intense than it actually is and is intended to be enjoyed by families.
