Enjoy an enchanting evening at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Christmas is the perfect time to experience a sprinkle of Disney Magic, and with plenty going on at Magic Kingdom over the next few months, why not take the opportunity to explore the iconic park?
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns this year and promises to be as exciting and enchanting as ever! Starting just over a week later than the Disney Halloween Party that we covered in an earlier blog post, it will run for 26 select nights between 8th November and 21st December from 7pm to midnight. Make memories that will last a lifetime with your family and all of your favourite Disney friends at Magic Kingdom this Christmas!
A Frozen Holiday Wish - 10 minute show
Get in the festive spirit as Cinderella Castle is lit-up by Frozen’s Queen Elsa, who transforms the famous building into her own icy palace in the popular A Frozen Holiday Wish. This is a short show lasting around ten minutes, and is a must-see for any fans of the film, with appearances from Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf the Snowman on the Castle Forecourt Stage!
Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration - Sing and dance-along show
The party mood is set with Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, which is also held on the stage in front of the Castle. This stage show made its first appearance in 2016, replacing Celebrate the Season, and takes place several times over the course of the evening, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to find a good spot to watch all of the action! Join Mickey and all of his friends, including Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Peter Pan, Snow White and many other Disney favourites as they play host to a fantastic Christmas party! Sing and dance along to the music and carols as Cinderella Castle is illuminated with changing festive lights, and watch out for a show-stopping diva performance of Mariah’s festive classic, All I Want For Christmas is You from Clarabelle Cow!
As you make your way around the park, look out for appearances from Disney characters who are all dressed in their Christmassy best! Watch out especially for the rare appearances of Father Christmas, Jack Skellington and Scrooge McDuck! Don’t forget to collect their autographs and take a photo!
Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
You’ll also be able to see all of your favourite Disney stars on the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, which takes place twice over the course of the evening, making its way from Frontierland and down Main Street USA. You’ll feel even more festive as flurries of snow fall on Main Street during the parade! Make sure that you have your camera at the ready to capture the gingerbread men and elves who dance alongside Father Christmas, his reindeer and the Disney stars. This is a popular parade, and as such, prime viewing locations are hotly sought after! You’ll need to arrive around 45 minutes before the parade if you want the perfect spot on Main Street USA or in front of the Castle. If you would rather spend your time exploring the other attractions, then the quieter areas in Frontierland will be less crowded. It’s also worth noting that the 11pm parade is normally less busy, so could be the ideal time to snag the perfect spot.
MAKE A PLAN: You could attend the 10:30pm showing of Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration and find a great location for that show, that will also work well for viewing the parade that will pass by soon after!
Totally Tomorrowland Christmas - Sing and dance-along show
Over at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland you won’t want to miss the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas, hosted by Haley Comet. Things take an intergalactic turn when she is joined onstage by Buzz Lightyear, Stitch and Mike Wazowski in a mission to track down Father Christmas, and singing their own versions of some festive classics along the way! Listen to toe-tapping and upbeat renditions of all your favourite tunes including Jingle Bells, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus is Coming to Town! With a kids-only area at the front of the stage for this show, the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas is one that the younger members of your party are bound to enjoy!
Club Tinsel - Kids dance party
If your children enjoyed bopping along to the songs in Totally Tomorrowland, then why not check out Club Tinsel at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café nearby? The whole family can dance the night away with polar bears, reindeers and elves – it’s certainly a Christmas party with a difference!
Holiday Wishes - Firework Show
The main display to round-off the evening is the Holiday Wishes show, which is a dazzling firework spectacular over Cinderella Castle. The best viewing spot is along Main Street, but, as the display is less reliant on projections on the Castle than the regular nightly shows you will be able to enjoy it from most places in the park. This culmination of the celebrations is hosted by the one and only Jiminy Cricket, and encapsulates the excitement of the holiday season! Classic seasonal songs including Sleigh Ride, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, O Christmas Tree, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Spirit of the Season accompany special effects, a stunning fireworks display and incredible castle lighting effects.
Additional information and where to get your tickets
Although the focus is on the special Christmas shows, don’t forget that a number of attractions are still open. As a lot of people will be watching the shows and enjoying the seasonal spectacle, the queues for rides are likely to be a lot shorter. For the more popular rides such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it might be worth waiting for the shows and parades to start, as people will make their way to watch these instead; as long as you have time to enjoy them elsewhere in your itinerary! Talking of itinerary, make sure that you plan your evening carefully, as there is so much to see and do, and this event is only a few hours long per night.
Dining packages are available with reserved seating plans for the main shows, but you might want to save some room for the complimentary seasonal drinks that are served up around Magic Kingdom! Additional treat locations offer up a selection of goodies that you won’t want to miss getting your hands on, and also include healthy treats and gluten-free options for those with special dietary requirements!
As this is a separate ticketed event, you needn’t attend during the daytime to go to the Christmas Party. For regular guests, the park closes at 6pm to allow the transition into the special evening event, and those without the evening wristband will be directed to the exits. If you have purchased both tickets then you’ll need to find a wristband station to get your new wristband applied! In previous years Christmas Party guests have entered the park as early as 4pm, and if you can manage to get to the park around that time it is highly recommended, as it will give you more time to hop on the rides and grab a bite to eat before the evening’s entertainment begins! It’s worth noting that the entry costs vary depending on the dates that you choose to attend, which is a reflection of how busy Disney expect the parks to be with more popular days demanding a higher price. *Prices start from £80 per person*†.
